Singer Fezu wins best fisherwoman Ooredoo Masrace – Male’ City

Singer Fathimath Fezleen (Fezu) from Detune Band has snatched the best fisherwoman title in Ooredoo Masrace – Male’ City.

While Fezu won the best fisherwoman in the competition held last Friday with impressive four catches, her team, DetuneFishing, finished as the runners-up with 698 points.

Sonee Fishing won the competition with 860 points, while STELCO Men’s team came in third with 412 points.

The best fisherman was Naushad from Team Crunchies who landed a total of 17 catches.

Meanwhile, the heaviest catch came from Waleed from the winning, Sonee Fishing, with a weight of 17.54 kilograms.

Winners received cash prizes.

  • 1st place: MVR 150,000
  • 2nd place: MVR 10,000
  • 3rd place: MVR 5,000
  • Best fisherman, fisherwoman: MVR 1,000

A total of 34 teams competed from the Male’ region who departed from Masveringe Park (Fishermen's Park) at 2:30pm on Friday afternoon. They returned to weigh their catches at 9:00pm on Friday night.

Masrace will be held in other regions throughout this month as follows;

  • Kulhudhuffushi City – August 11th
  • Addu City – August 18th
  • Fuvahmulah City – August 25th

23 teams will compete from Kulhudhuffushi City, while 13 teams each will compete from both Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.

Ooredoo Masrace has been expanded this year in conjunction with the telecommunications company’s 18th anniversary.

With a total of 83 teams competing, this year’s competition will be the biggest fishing competition held in the Maldives to date.
