President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged members of the Scouts and Guides organizations to fulfil their religious obligations, uphold national dignity, and maintain high moral standards, while promising an island for them to go camping.

The president, who is the Chief Scout of Maldives, met with the Maldivian contingent attending the 25th World Scout Jamboree on Monday.

The meeting, held at the Maldives Center for Social Education, was also attended by the Chief Guide of Maldives, First Lady Fazna Ahmed.

At the meeting, President Solih encouraged the scouts and guides to adhere to national customs and regulations while attending the jamboree.

He also urged participants to comply with all jamboree rules, and to represent the Maldives in a positive light.

Highlighting the benefits of attending the jamboree, President Solih noted that participants would have numerous opportunities to engage in new activities, and expressed confidence that they would take advantage of these opportunities to further their personal development.

“The time you spend at the jamboree is time you spend away from your country and your family. But there are certain things you must always remember. There are also values you must always maintain,” he said.

He said that the top priority must be to fulfil religious obligations, and uphold national dignity.

The president also highlighted the exceptional talent of Maldivian Scouts on the global stage, citing the inclusion of a Maldivian Scout on the planning team for this year's jamboree as evidence of this.

He extended his congratulations to Scout Leader Ali Shafa'ath Manik for his role on the planning team.

In concluding his remarks, the president encouraged all Jamboree participants to seize this opportunity to showcase their abilities and talents.

He also presented the Maldivian flag to the contingent leader during the meeting.

The 25th World Scout Jamboree will take place in South Korea from August 1-12.

It will see the participation of 425 members from the Maldives.
