Six robberies in Male

Six places in various areas of Male’ have been robbed within the past 24 hours. This includes the stealing of, among other things, money, a laptop and three phones from three houses located in Maafannu.

A Police Media Official said that reports have been received of six robberies within the past 24 hours, from various areas of Male’. This morning, a report was received that a laptop, two phones and a hard-disk had been stolen from one residence. And earlier this morning, a wallet and a phone were reported missing from a house located in Maafannu.

The Official said that in addition, a report was received that a house near Maafannu Eid Miskiy had been broken into yesterday afternoon, where in addition to money being stolen, a window was broken in one of the bedrooms. The Official did not reveal names of any of these houses.

“We are now searching for the suspects. Revealing the names of the houses may get in the way of investigations,” The Official said.

Sun has received information that the house located near Eid Miskiy was broken into around midnight last night by causing severe damage to the property. Things stolen from this house include even cosmetic items.

Lately, cases of theft have been on the rise in Male’ and other islands. Last year, several prisoners were released by the government, under the “second chance” program.
