Maldives Institute of Technology granted college status

Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT) has been granted college status. 

MIT was registered as an institute providing higher education and training in 2008.

The document ascertaining MIT's college status was handed over to them by the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan during a special ceremony held at the Ministry of Higher Education on Tuesday.

Higher Education Ministry said they granted the status to MIT following a review of their application lodged with the ministry.

A higher education and training institution can be registered as a college after it has been in continuous operation as such a facility for at least 10 years in addition to having offered level five programs under National Qualifications Framework for five continuous years.
