Tourist at Kanifinolhu goes missing

A tourist at Club Med Kanifinolhu Resort has gone missing today. He was last seen swimming in the shallows of the island with another tourist.

The French man, aged 50, went for swimming with a friend at around 4:45 in the evening, and he was reported missing only moments after. Speaking to Sun tonight, Abdul Samad, General Affairs Manager at Kanifinolhu said that divers and boats from Kanifinolhu as well as Lhohifushi, another resort in the area, were searching for him.

“As soon as we got reports of the incident, we have started the search”, said Samad.

Samad said that the man and his companion were in the north-eastern side of the island, and that when they went for swimming, it was low-tide.

The Maldives Police Services said that they received reports of the incident around 5:45 pm this evening, and that they were looking for him as well.
