Two-foot crocodile found near entrance of Sh. Komandoo

A crocodile measuring 2 feet has been found at the entrance to Sh. Atoll between the islands of Komandoo.

MNDF said that the crocodile was found this afternoon, and that it has now been caught by the people of Komandoo.

MNDF said that a Police team has departed to Komandoo from Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi. The official from MNDF also said that more information about the crocodile will be available once the team reaches the area.

A crocodile was also found near R. Meedhoo about two days ago, following which the Police checked the area. The official from MNDF said that the crocodile claimed to have been seen by the people of Meedhoo, has not been seen since.

The official said that it is unlikely that there is a link between the crocodiles seen near Komandoo today and the one seen near Meedhoo earlier.

Crocodiles were found in different areas of the Maldives last year as well.
