President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has constituted the new Board of Directors of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). Mohamed Ibrahim, who was dismissed today from his post of Managing Director of MACL, was also included in the new Board of Directors.
Dr Ibrahim Mahfooz, who served as the Chief Internal Auditor of State Trading Organisation (STO) until now, has been appointed as the new MD of MACL. He holds a Doctorate of Business Administration degree from Newcastle University, Australia, which was conferred to him in 2010.
The Board Chairman is Mohamed Saeed, Ma. Haveyli, and the remaining members are Ibrahim Khalid, G. Kathlin;Ibrahim Iyas, registration number 8309; Hussain Shiyam, M. Mahek and Ibrahim Mohamed, M. Muleege.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Ibrahim has also been appointed as Minister of State for Transport and Communication.
Mohamed Ibrahim held a senior post at MACL when former President Mohamed Nasheed’s governmentawarded the airport project to GMR. He was involved in the transactions in this regard, for which he was criticised by various groups.
Acting Transport Minister, Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim said that the change made to MACL today is part of the government’s plan to strengthen the business activities of the company. He said that further changes will be made to strengthen the company.
