A Dhoni travelling from Thilafushi to Male’ carrying gas for Villa has sunk. The four people on board survived this accident without any injuries.
The Dhoni named “Dhuveli ekeh” sank at around 5.13pm after water started coming into the vessel.
Police inform that the Dhoni was on its way to Male’ from Thilafushi, but turned back when water started coming in. It had reached the STO area of Thilafushi when it sank. Police also said that it was carrying 580 cylinders of gas when it went underwater, and that the Coast Guard and Marine Police are now working on removing the cylinders from underwater.
They also said that removal of the sunken dhoni is scheduled for tomorrow morning and that the damages to the dhoni can only be determined after it is removed from water.
