A no-confidence motion against Home Minister Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has been submitted to Parliament again today.
An MP told Sun Online today that the motion was submitted with 17 signatures, including the signatures of MPs of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
It has not yet been possible to confirm this, as there was no answer on the phone of Parliament Secretary General Ahmed Mohamed.
MDP submitted the motion to Parliament on a previous occasion as well, but withdrew it last minute after the voting was scheduled at the Parliament.
As reasons for submitting the no-confidence motion against Jameel, MDP has stated that the Home Minister has failed in fulfilling his responsibility of ensuring safe streets for the people of Maldives, which results in assault and murders taking place in broad daylight. They said that innocent people have lost their lives due to failure to prevent crime and ensure peace and order on the streets.
Meanwhile, no-confidence motions have also been submitted to Parliament against Defence Minister (Rtd) Colonel Mohamed Nazim, as well as the President.
