First tourism seminar in Huvadhu Atoll held

The first tourism seminar for the islands held in Gdh. Vaadhoo. 

This symposium is a joint effort of Huvadhoo Association for Tourism (HAT), Maldives National University (MNU), Heritage Ministry and Gdh. Vaadhoo council. It’s aimed at providing information pertaining to tourism as well as sustaining local tourism in the atoll. 

Furthermore, it was also aimed to create awareness among people of the positive and negative effects of tourism seen in the atoll. 

With 40 participants, the event was held from February 9 till 12. Lecturers from MNU and officials from the Heritage ministry were among attendees. 

Speaking with Sun, the Executive Director of HAT Hood Ibrahim said that as this was the first symposium of its kind, it was very well  received. 

Within the duration of the symposium, 40 heritage sites in Vaadhoo were inspected. From MNU presentations were given and a special panel discussion was also held. 

Moreover, Hood spoke of future plans to hold similar events in all the islands of the atoll.   He also stated that events will be customized based on each of the islands. 

Hood reveled that next on the list were Huvadhoo and Thinadhoo, and that they were working on it holding it soon.
