Salman Mosque’s ACs fixed after four months

The broken ACs at King Salman Mosque have been fixed after four months.

Islamic Ministry reported that the ACs were fixed and brought into use last Thursday.

Three AC units out of the four installed on two floors at Salman Mosque allotted congregational prayers had been broken for four months. The broken ACs combined with the poor ventilation at the mosque was a great inconvenience to prayer goers, especially in the afternoon.

Islamic Ministry previously stated that there was no way to repair the ACs in Maldives, and that the parts needed for repair work were not available in the country – delaying the process.

The ACs were at last fixed by experts from Turkey who had traveled to the Maldives under a contract with Islamic Ministry.

King Salman Mosque was built by the Turkish company, Turmaks.

A total of USD 25 million was spent on the construction of the mosque. Out of this amount, USD 14.5 million was provided by the Saudi government. The remaining amount was funded by the Maldivian government.

Although the six-story mosque was completed during former President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s administration – the official inauguration of King Salman Mosque has been delayed multiple times for various reasons. Congregational prayers at the mosque, however, had commenced last year.
