A private individual has requested Elections Commission (EC) to investigate the decision by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to change the current government through a revolution.
A letter sent to EC by Ibrahim Manik of H. Finifenmaage today says that the decision by MDP’s National Council to overthrow the government through a revolution should be investigated. He also said that action should be taken against this decision by MDP.
“Because I believe that the decision by MDP’s National Council to overthrow the government through a revolution could result in irreversible losses to our beloved nation and make it more vulnerable in terms of politics, economy and military, I would like to ask you with due respect and compassion to take necessary action immediately in relation to this matter,” says the letter, of which Sun Online has received a copy.
Ibrahim Manik also said in the letter that should the EC fail to take appropriate action, efforts will be made to ensure that action is taken through other state authorities.
