Minister of Tourism Dr Abdulla Mausoon stated that the future of tourism for the upcoming 50 years looks to be very bright.
He said this while speaking at the ‘Tourism Jubilee Walk’ organized by the Maldivian National University’s (MNU) Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS). He went on to remark that it was important for students who finish school to enter the industry.
“We are leaving the next 50 years of tourism to the hands of this generation. I am certain that this generation will carry the industry forward with sincerity, till their children’s children, as a globally exemplary destination in the coming years.”
Dr Mausoon summarized the tourism industry as meeting people, understanding their needs and providing services to them accordingly.
“The tourism industry is an industry that meets people. An industry where you meet people. One that listens to people’s problems. An industry that progresses the economy of Maldives. It is an industry that uses human resources.”
In addition to this, the minister expressed his thanks to FHTS for organizing this event.
The walk commenced from MNU's main campus, with numerous students from different schools, officials from Tourism Ministry and MNU taking part.
Notably, students who studied at MNU's FHTS currently working in the industry participated in the event and shared their experiences.
