Russian Azur Air resumes flights to the Maldives

Russian airline, Azur Air, has resumed flights to the Maldives.

The charter airline resumed direct flights between Moscow and Velana International Airport on Friday in time for the winter season - the peak tourism season in the Maldives. 

Azur Air halted operations to the Maldives in March, in light of the Russia-Ukraine war. 

As they resume operations once again, Azur Air will hold daily flights to the Maldives. 

The airline will be using Boeing 767-300s for the operations which accommodate 336 passengers.

Aeroflot, the national airline of Russia, also carries out daily operations to the Maldives. 

As of September 2022, Russia hails as the second-largest market to the Maldives in terms of tourist arrivals. Prior to the Russia-Ukraine war, in recent years, Russia was the largest market to the Maldives in terms of tourist arrivals.
