Met Office extends yellow alert for northern and central Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service has extended the yellow alert for a large part of northern and central Maldives, warning that heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas will continue to prevail.

The yellow alert had issued a yellow alert from 05:00 pm to 09:00 pm on Sunday, for the area from HA. Atoll to Th. Atoll.

The service later extended the alert from 09:00 pm Sunday to 02:00 am Monday.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the area will be affected by heavy rain and strong winds of 25-30 miles per hour, with gusts of 50 miles per hour.

Seas are expected to be very rough.

Maldives Meteorological Service has advised everyone, especially seafarers, to be cautious.
