A senior government official told Sun Online today that the case will be filed to Singapore arbitration court sometime today, to determine that the agreement signed in 2010 has been terminated.

MACL has also confirmed to Sun Online that the case will be filed to Singapore arbitration court. MACL said that the case will be filed jointly by the company and the government of Maldives.

Attorney General Aishath Azima Shakoor said on the day that the agreement was terminated, that the Maldivian government will initiate the process of filing the case for arbitration.

On Wednesday, the government gave GMR seven days to hand over the airport and thirty days to remove their property.

However GMR has said that this notice is against the agreement, and that it will not heed the Maldivian government’s decision.
