MFDA bans variety of grape with heightened amounts of pesticide

India’s Euro Fruits Brand’s Thompson seedless grapes banned by MFDA.

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) announced banning the import and sale of a variety of grapes with increased amounts of pesticide.

In a statement released by MFDA on Sunday, the authority was informed by Europe’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) that India’s Euro Fruits Brand’s Thompson seedless grapes.

The variety was imported by India’s Euro Fruits Pvt Ltd and wholesaled by a company from Netherland Global Green Team.

MFDA also stated that they were working to determine the risk posed by this.

As a precautionary measure, MDFA has asked retailers not to sell these particular grapes under the lot number L-21.099 0001 05 GGN:4049929236608, 4056186631107
