Funeral home opened in memory of Lance Corporal Sultan

A funeral home built in memory of Lance Corporal Sultan was opened in AA. Himandhoo on May 27, 2022.

The family of a young MNDF cadet who died during training in India last year has opened a funeral home in his memory. 

Lance Corporal Mohamed Sultan, 22, died while undergoing training at the National Defense Acadamy (NDA) in Pune, India, on September 25, 2021. 

His family has built a funeral home in his memory in his home island, AA. Himandhoo. The funeral home was handed over to the local council on Friday.

Himandhoo Council’s president Husham Ismail said that the council itself had planned to open a funeral home in his memory, but Sultan’s father had asked that the family be allowed to finance the construction of the building. 

According to MNDF, Sultan had collapsed during an endurance run at Camp Greenhorn. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival.
