Criminal gang attacks shopkeeper with machete

A shopkeeper has suffered injuries from an attack by a criminal group equipped with a machete.

An official of IGMH said that a person was brought to the hospital with a back-injury on Tuesday around 11.40pm. He was treated and has now been released. However, the IGMH did not reveal details on his injuries.

The police say that they received a report at around 1.55am that night, concerning an attack on the shopkeeper of Dunk Shop located in Handhuvaree Hingun.

So far, no arrests have been made with regard to this attack.

A person speaking on behalf of a witness told Sun that the group disappeared immediately after attacking the shopkeeper. He also said that they entered the shop only to attack the shopkeeper, and did not steal any money or goods.

Police records show that within the first six months of this year, 62 cases of assault using sharp weapons, and 118 cases of assault using other objects, had taken place.
