The Police Integrity Commission has called for the Police to uphold peace and be neutral, during the protest planned to take place on Friday.
In a document published today, they said that it is the responsibility of the Police to uphold the existing rules and regulations, and protect people’s homes and belongings during the protest.
“The Police are advised to keep in mind their responsibilities as Police Officers, and work towards upholding the laws without taking sides,” they informed.
The commission also advises the organizers and participants of the protest to hold demonstrations in such a way that peace in the country is not disrupted.
“…It should be remembered that every right must be implemented responsibly, and that one person’s efforts to obtain his rights should not compromise another from doing the same. Every person’s rights should be respected,” reads the publication.
They also advised the protestors to act responsibly and allow Police to carry out their responsibilities without obstacles.
