The first photo of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih since undergoing thyroid surgery, has been publicized.
President Solih departed to Singapore to seek medical care for his thyroid issues on February 23. He underwent surgery on February 25. He is accompanied by his wife, First Lady Fazna Ahmed, on this medical trip.
President Solih was discharged from the hospital following surgery on March 1. The first photo of him, since the surgery, was publicized by MDP’s former Chairperson Reeko Moosa Manik via a tweet.
In his tweet, Reeko said that he had the opportunity to meet President Solih, and inquire about his wellbeing. Reeko stressed that he was in good health, at the time of the meeting.
He also added that President Solih will be returning to the Maldives very soon.
Additionally, Reeko noted that President Solih had told him that he will be supporting Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail in the upcoming MDP Chairperson election.

In a historical first for Maldives, the Vice President Faisal Naseem temporarily assumed the responsibilities of the President under Article 23 of the Constitution – in the event the President is temporarily unable to perform the duties and responsibilities of office, he shall inform Parliament Speaker in writing specifying the reasons thereof and handover his duties and responsibilities to the Vice President.
President Solih reassumed his duties following the surgery.
