Board members elected to Maldivian Medical Association

Doctors vote in the election held to elect board members to Maldivian Medical Association on March 3, 2022.

Voting in the election of board members to Maldivian Medication Association (MMA) held every once in two years, took place on Thursday.

The voting took place between 12:00pm and 4:00pm yesterday. Ballot boxes were kept at four medical institutions; ADK Hospital, Hulhumale’ Hospital, Tree Top Hospital and Faculty of Health. Voting also took place online.

The board members elected in yesterday’s election are as follow;

President: Dr. Aminath Zeyba Ahmed, Consultant in Emergency Medicine

Vice President: Dr. Asadh Mohamed Saeed, Consultant in Anesiology

Executive Secretary: Dr. Ahmed Rasheed, Consultant in Neurology

Deputy Secretary: Dr. Mariyam Nayaasheen, Medical Officer

Treasurer: Dr. Mohamed Mauroof Hassan, Medical Officer

Academic Secretary: Dr. Humaid Ali, Medical Officer

Scientific Secretary: Dr. Ali Zaadhee, Medical Officer

Health Promotion Coordinator: Dr. Raishan Latheef, Medical Officer

The members are elected for a term of two years; the newly elected individuals being elected for the term 2022-2024.

A board member of MMA told Sun that a total of 225 individuals voted in yesterday’s election.

“I want to note that voting had turned out very smoothly. We received a lot of support from the institutions the ballot boxes were kept at,” the member had said.

Established in 2006, Maldivian Medical Association is the largest representative professional body of doctors in country. They aim to improve the medical services and to develop professionalism amongst local doctors.
