COVID-19: Maldives records 628 new cases in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 628 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 168,124.     

According to HPA, the 628 new cases include; 40 cases from the greater Male’ region, 501 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 49 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 1,028 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 151,319. 

With the new developments, Maldives now has 15,380 active cases.      

There are 23 patients in hospitals.      

3,374 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 715 samples from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 294 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October. 

As of present, 398,137 people have received their first dose and 370,887 people have been fully vaccinated, and 124,644 have received their booster dose.
