COVID-19: 2,510 new cases; 17,777 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, announced 2,510 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 130,599.     

According to HPA, the 2,510 new cases include; 1,203 cases from the greater Male’ region, 788 cases from residential islands outside Male’ and 41 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 1,683 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 112,535.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 17,777 active cases.      

There are 49 patients in hospitals.      

7,061 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 3,372 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 36 percent.

Maldives has recorded 274 COVID-19 deaths.
