Attorney General’s Office provided legal counsel on over 900 matters in 2021

Attorney General’s Office states it provided legal counsel to state institutions on over 900 different matters last year. 

AGO released its annual statistics for the year 2021 on Monday. 

According to the statistics, state institutions requested legal counsel on 960 matters last year, and the AGO provided legal counsel on 921 (96 percent) of the matters.  

AGO said it provided legal counsel on total 983 matters last year, which included matters pending from 2020, as well as a regulation the office drafted at its own initiation. 

DETAILS OF LEGAL COUNSEL BY ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE (JAN-DEC 2021): 

  • Legal counsel regarding ratification of legislature: 33 
  • Legal counsel regarding agreements: 278 
  • Legal counsel regarding regulations: 180 
  • Legal counsel regarding policies: 34 
  • Legal counsel regarding conventions: 5 
  • Other: 453 

The greatest number of legal counsel was provided to the Finance Ministry. AGO provided legal counsel on 231 matters to the Finance Ministry last year. 

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry was provided legal counsel on 104 matters, Transport Ministry was provided legal counsel on 73 matters, Environment Ministry was provided legal counsel on 69 matters, and Health Ministry was provided legal counsel on 65 matters.
