Safa Hajj and Umra Group has informed that the pilgrim who could not depart from Jeddah as planned, Hussain Ibrahim of Raazee Villa, Sh. Milandhoo, is in good condition and will return to Male’ on Monday.
A press conference was held at Safa Group’s Office today to clarify the issue, as various stories have been going around in the media.
Head of Safa Group Abdullah Naseem said that, as the person responsible for the pilgrims, he tried not to board the flight without Hussain Ibrahim.
However he boarded the flight when the Saudi Arabian Immigration Officials confirmed that Hussain Ibrahim will be released.
After he got on the flight, he was informed that Hussain Ibrahim had also boarded the flight, but found out after takeoff that Hussain Ibrahim was not on board.
As phones are not allowed on the flight, he contacted the officials in Mecca as soon as the flight landed.
“I contacted the Head of this Group in Mecca, Ali Najeeb, who informed me that he and officials of Islamic Ministry were presently at the airport trying to solve that problem,” Abdullah explained.
He said that Hussain Ibrahim is currently at the hotel in Mecca with the 25 members of the Group’s Advance Team, and that efforts are under way to confirm a seat on Qatar Airways for Hussain Ibrahim to depart day after tomorrow and arrive in Male’ on 12 November.
He said that relevant authorities have been contacted to obtain the documents necessary for him to travel to Maldives, and that the documents will be received tomorrow.
“He is doing well. God willing, he will return with the 25 members of our Advance Team,” Abdullah said.
