COVID-19 patient in Addu City dies, raising death toll to 245

A COVID-19 patient admitted at Addu Covid Management Facility has passed away.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has identified the deceased as an 87-year-old Maldivian woman. She had passed away this morning at 11:46am.

Her death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 245.

This is the second COVID-19 death recorded by the Maldives in November; the first one being reported yesterday. HPA identified the first COVID-19 fatality of November as an 81-year-old Maldivian man who was being treated at Hulhumale’ Medical Facility.

The last COVID-19 death recorded from Addu City was on October 28; an 81-year-old Maldivian who was also being treated at Addu Covid Management Facility.

HPA announced 109 additional cases of COVID-19 in the last 24-hours, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 88,386.

According to HPA, the 109 new cases include; 17 cases from the greater Male’ region, 84 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and eight cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 128 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 86,168.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,961 active cases.      

There are 27 patients admitted at hospitals.
