COVID-19 patient in Addu City dies, raising death toll to 241

A COVID-19 patient admitted at Addu Covid Management Facility has passed away.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has identified the deceased as an 86-year-old Maldivian man. He had passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning at 00:10.

His death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 241.

The last COVID-19 related death recorded from Addu City was on October 18; an 87-year-old Maldivian man who was also being treated at Addu Covid Management Facility.

The last COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives prior to Tuesday’s death was on last Thursday; a 44-year-old woman from HA. Vashafaru who was being treated at Hulhumale’ Medical Facility.

Within the last 24-hours, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 149 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 87,071.    

According to HPA, the 149 new cases include; 39 cases from the greater Male’ region, 85 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 25 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 123 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 85,268.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,550 active cases.      

There are 22 patients in hospitals.
