COVID-19 patient in Addu City dies, raising death toll to 239

A COVID-19 patient admitted at Addu Covid Management Facility has passed away.

Addu Equilateral Hospital had identified the deceased as an 87-year-old Maldivian man. He had passed away earlier this evening at 06:35.

His death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 239.

It is the sixth COVID-19 related death from Addu City. An 87-year-old Maldivian man had also passed away at Addu Covid Management Facility last Wednesday.

Within the last 24-hours, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 77 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 86,165.

The 77 new cases include; 25 cases from the greater Male’ region, 37 cases from residential islands outside Male’, nine cases from operational resorts and six cases from liveabords.

Meanwhile, 40 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 84,627.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,287 active cases.      

There are 12 patients in hospitals.
