COVID-19: 82 new cases, 47 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 82 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 83,579.      

According to HPA, the 82 new cases include; 29 cases from the Male’ region, 47 cases from residential islands outside of Male’ region, and six cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 127 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 81,671.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,663 active cases.      

There are 21 patients in hospitals.      

4,698 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,715 from the greater Male' region.

September 17: 84 cases 

September 16: 86 cases 

September 15: 92 cases 

September 14: 120 cases 

September 13: 128 cases 

Maldives has recorded 229 COVID-19 deaths.

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years in August.

On Sunday, a total of 293 people had gotten their first dose whereas a total of 1,099 people had gotten their second dose.

With these new developments, a total of 390,965 people have received their first dose out of which 331,405 people have completed the second dose.
