Qasim Ibrahim, Chairman of Villa Hotels and MP for Maamigili Constituency, has said that he has plans to start building a state-of-the-art hospital in Maamigili next year.
In an exclusive interview to Sun last Week, Qasim, one of the richest business tycoons in the Maldives, said that he had decided to build a hospital in his native island in order to make available the best health care to the island and also to the whole country.
Qasim said that the new hospital would provide better health care than any hospital does currently in the Maldives. He said that he had long hoped for the day when the project would roll off papers and come into action.
“My vision is that the hospital I have decided to build in Maamigili would provide better services than the ones that we have in Malé. We shall not only have better doctors, but the hospital will be better in all other aspects as well”, said Qasim.
Qasim said that the hospital would start operations with 100-150 beds, and that the project is a joint venture in which a European company would also share.
“The project has been scheduled for next year. It would be begun as soon as Maamigili School project is complete. We have already acquired the land for the hospital”, said Qasim.
Qasim Ibrahim has greatly contributed to the development of Maamigili. The most significant of his many services to the island has been the Maamigili Airport opened recently.
