COVID-19: 134 new cases, 48 from Male’ area

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 134 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 79,659.      

According to HPA, the 134 new cases include; 48 cases from the greater Male’ region, 77 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 9 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 74 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 77,713.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,712 active cases.      

There are 16 patients in hospitals.      

6,750 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 2,904 from the greater Male' region.    

With the 134 new infections this Thursday, 844 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

August 19: 134 cases 

August 18: 106 cases 

August 17: 130 cases 

August 16: 152 cases 

August 15: 137 cases 

August 14: 74 cases 

August 13: 111 cases 

Maldives has recorded 222 COVID-19 deaths.
