Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted monitoring measures in GA. Villingili.

Speaking to Sun today, Villingili Council President Vishal Mohamed stated that the island was brought under monitoring measures subsequent to a number of random samples taken from the island coming back positive.

“The most recent random samples taken had all come back negative – thus monitoring measures at the island were lifted as there is no longer a basis for the island to remain under monitoring,” Vishal had said.

Vishal also detailed that the COVID-19 situation on the island has significantly improved. Nevertheless, he noted that the authorities will continue to enforce the restrictive measures taken to curb the spread of the virus within the island.

He also extended his gratitude to the residents of Villingili for the cooperation rendered to control the spread of the virus on the island through the practice of protective measures. He also highlighted the tireless efforts by the island’s task force in managing the COVID-19 situation and thanked them as well.

At present, there are only 22 active cases in Villingili.
