Fire at warehouse in Maafannu

A fire incident has occurred at Sun Gold warehouse located at M. Unimaage.

The warehouse is located on the ground floor of the seven-storey building on Orchid magu, near Asrafee Bookshop.

The fire began at around 7:00pm.

The building was evacuated, and heavy smoke was observed in the area.

The fire was controlled about one hour later by Police and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officials.

The building is occupied by employees of Sun Travel.

Sun Travel said that items such as petrol and engines are stored at the warehouse.

The Head MNDF Officer in the area said that there have been no reports of any injuries in relation to this incident, and that efforts are underway to see if neighboring buildings were affected by the fire.
