Eid prayer once again to be held at Stadium

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has decided that similar to the Eid ul-Fitr prayer earlier this year, the upcoming Eid ul-Adha prayer will also be held at Maafannu Stadium area.

Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs Asadullah Shafee said that arrangements will be made to accommodate 100,000 people for Eid prayer at the Stadium.

He said that separate areas will be marked for women and children, and that permission had already been obtained to use this area for this purpose.

Islamic Ministry has informed that security will be maintained at the Stadium by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Police, Cadets, Scouts and Girl Guides.

Asadullah said that people can enter the Stadium from Ameenee magu and Boduthakurufaanu magu entrances.

Cadets have planned to conduct TV programs and distribute leaflets to foreigners in their languages, to inform them of the policies to follow at the area during Eid prayer.

Islamic Ministry has said that Eid prayer will also be held at Islamic Centre and big mosques in Male’.

Islamic Ministry estimates that the turnout for Eid ul-Fitr prayer earlier this year, was about 50,000.
