Parliament OKs Dr. Asim as Maldivian ambassador to Morocco

Parliament, on Monday, approved Dr. Asim Ahmed for appointment as the Maldivian Non-Residential Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco.

Asim’s name was sent to the parliamentary committee for vetting on May 14.

He secured the Parliament’s approval with a majority vote of 53 parliamentarians on Monday afternoon.

Asim is the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other International Organization in Geneva.

Asim completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of South Pacific, Fiji, and attained a Master of Philosophy in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, UK, and completed a Doctor of Philosophy at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

Asim, who has years of experience in foreign service, also served as Ambassador-at-Large at Maldivian Foreign Ministry.
