President Solih departs to Dubai to attend brother’s funeral

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih departed to Dubai on Monday, to attend the funeral of Ahmed Mohamed Solih, his younger brother.

President’s spokesperson Mabrook Azeez told Sun the President traveled to Dubai on a personal trip, and will return to Male’ City on Wednesday.

Sun has been informed his trip is to attend the funeral of his younger brother Ahmed, 55, who died while receiving treatment in Dubai earlier this Monday.

Local newspaper Adhadhu, citing a family member, reported that Ahmed is believed to have died from a heart attack.

President Solih has 11 full siblings. Four of them, including Ahmed, are visually impaired.

All four enrolled in courses to learn to recite the Holy Quran by heart. While Ahmed was unable to complete the course due to heath complications, the other three went on to become hafizes.
