US to provide emergency medical aid to Maldives

The United States of America will be providing the Maldives with emergency medical aid to assist the Maldives in its bid to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) said that the country was continuously working to assist South Asian nations in combating COVID-19. 

Under the initiative, the US will be providing emergency medical supplies to the Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The US will provide the Maldives with 600 oximeters, and 292,000 PPEs for frontline workers. 

The US has previously provided assistance to the Maldives. During the height of the pandemic, the US provided the Maldives with USD 9.1 million in assistance, including 60 ventilators. 

The US will be further increasing its assistance to South Asian countries in the upcoming weeks.
