Hassan Rasheed appointed as MD of Felivaru

Long-serving employee of Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, Hassan Rasheed of G. Sherenade, has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of Felivaru Fisheries Maldives Limited.

Government Spokesperson Abbas Adil Riza said today that Hassan Rasheed has accepted the post, and has commenced work today as the new MD of Felivaru Maldives.

Former MD of Felivaru Maldives, Ali Ahmed was removed from his post by the President following a case sent to Prosecutor General’s Office by Anti-Corruption Commission, accusing him of having misused his post to obtain undue advantage.

Hassan Rasheed, who is a member of Progressive Party of Maldives, resigned in 2009 from his post of Executive Director of Fisheries Ministry. He has also served as the Secretary General of Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party.

The government has also dismissed the Chairman of Felivaru Maldives, Mohamed Imthiyaz, following accusations of misuse of public funds. The post of Chairman of Felivaru Maldives remains vacant.
