Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has said that they are in discussion with other parties with regard to the no-confidence motions filed to parliament by the party, against President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik and Home Minister Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed.
Speaking at a press conference outside parliament building today, Deputy Leader of MDP Parliament Group Ali Waheed expressed confidence that the party will be successful in this matter.
Ali Waheed did not indicate which other parties MDP was in discussion with, but said that debates at the parliament have revealed that differences of opinion exist among members of the government coalition, due to some decisions made by President Waheed.
Ali Waheed expressed dismay over the actions taken against former President Mohamed Nasheed by the government, and said that Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad or Judges will be summoned to the parliament if they continue to obstruct privileges given to the former President.
Finance Minister Jihad earlier highlighted the issue of Nasheed being provided office allowance, when it is not known if an office for the former President exists.
