The Economic Survey, a nationwide survey conducted every five years to understand the economic situation of the country, has commenced yesterday.
The Department of Planning has informed that economic statistics will be collected until May 2013, as part of this survey.
The survey comprises of three parts, which are collection of information from establishments involved in economic activities, collection of basic financial statements of these establishments, and collection of information from selected establishments.
The information collected will be used to determine the country’s productivity, to rebase GDP, and to understand major contributors to the economy.
The latest Economic Survey was conducted in 2007/2008.
