President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has ratified the third amendment to the bill on Tourism Act.
The bill has now been published on the government gazette.
The bill was passed by the Parliament at the second sitting of this year’s third session, on 3 October.
The amendment adds an article to the Tourism Act.
The new article 39 relates to the security of tourist resorts, tourist hotels, yacht marinas and tourist guest houses.
Article 39(a) states that a security system approved by Maldives Police Service should be established by Tourism Ministry at tourist resorts, tourist hotels, yacht marinas and tourist guest houses.
Article 39(b) states that the security system must be inspected and approved by the Ministry with the assistance of Maldives Police Service, once every two years.
