The Tourism Ministry of the Maldives has announced that last Sunday, the Maldives received more than 4,000 tourists.
The Maldives recorded the highest number of international arrivals in a single day on Sunday, since the nation reopened its borders on July 15 following the COVID-19 lockdown.
On Sunday, the Maldives recorded a total of 4,191 arrivals. From July 15 to December 13, the Maldives has recorded a total of 31,607 tourists. This is an average of 2,431 tourists. In 2020 a total of 490,595 tourists have been recorded to the Maldives.
Last Saturday, the Maldives recorded 405 air traffic movements, according to the Maldives Airports Company Limited. This is an increase of 15 percent.
Countless international airlines are currently operating to the Maldives, including big names such as British Airways, Qatar Airways, Turkish Air, Etihad, and Emirates.
The highest number of tourist arrivals since the border reopening have been observed from Russia with 22,484 arrivals. Other top source markets include India, UK, the USA, and the UAE.
