EPA fines Manadhoo Council for illegal removal of trees

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has fined the Council of N. Manadhoo for the illegal removal of trees from the island. 

EPA said that the council was fined under the regulations formed regarding environmental impact reports and the laws related to the protection of the environment in the Maldives. 

The Manadhoo Council had facilitated the removal of trees from the area of the island where land was distributed from. 

EPA levied a fine of MVR 20,000 against the Council for the violations which is to be paid within 30 days.
