Police arrest additional Afrasheem murder suspect

Police have arrested one more person in relation to the murder of the late Ungoofaaru MP Dr Afrasheem Ali.

Speaking at a press conference outside Shaheed Hussain Adam Building today, Head of Specialist Crime, Assistant Commissioner of Police Hassan Habeeb said that efforts are underway to seek foreign assistance for this investigation.

He said that one more person has also been arrested, but did not provide any details.

With the new arrest, five people are now in Police custody for suspicion of involvement in this crime.

Police have not provided details of any of them, as doing so might obstruct the investigation.

Police have appealed to the public for cooperation in this investigation, and particularly requested any person who saw Afrasheem’s car on the night of 1 October between 10:50pm and 1:00am in Male’, to come forward with the information. Police have also established a hotline for providing information on this murder.
