Imthiyaz resigns as Registrar General of JP

Mohamed Imthiyaz has resigned as the Registrar General and Council Member of Jumhooree Party (JP).

This has been confirmed by JP.

Imthiyaz was earlier suspended from his post of Registrar General following corruption allegations against him.

Secretary General of JP Hassan Shah said today that Imthiyaz had sent his letter of resignation to Leader of JP Gasim Ibrahim.

He said that a fax copy of the letter was received at the JP Office; however, a decision on the matter will be made by Gasim.

Imthiyaz has also been dismissed from the post of Chairman of Felivaru Maldives, following an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Imthiyaz has denied the corruption allegations against him.
