Gayoom arrives in Ungoofaaru

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has arrived in R. Ungoofaaru this evening.

Gayoom will participate in the commemoration ceremony for the late Ungoofaaru MP Afrasheem Ali, to be held in Ungoofaaru tonight.

Supporters of Gayoom and Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) gathered at the beach to welcome Gayoom as he arrived in Ungoofaaru.

People also travelled to Ungoofaaru from Dhuvaafaru, to welcome Gayoom.

The commemoration ceremony for Afrasheem Ali, who was also the President of the religious branch of PPM, will be attended by PPM Parliamentary Group members and National Council members.

Afrasheem Ali died on Monday night after being stabbed.

PPM has informed that Gayoom will speak at tonight’s ceremony.
