Russian flag carrier, Aeroflot to hold two flights per week to Maldives

As part of flight recommencement between the Maldives and Russia, Aeroflot will be conducting flights between the nations from September 10 onwards. 

The Russian flag-carrier will hold two flights per week between Russia’s Sheremetyevo airport and Velana International Airport, according to multiple travel websites.

The flights between Moscow and Male’ City will be held on Friday and Sunday.

The government of Russia announced the decision to recommence travel operations between Maldives and Russia last week. Before the COVID-19 lockdown, Aeroflot had held one flight per day between the two nations.

Russia remains an important tourist source market for the Maldives. Since the country reopened on July 15, the Maldives has welcomed 9,297 visitors. Despite no direct travels, Maldives saw a number of Russian tourists during the period.
