Confident that we will find those responsible for Afrasheem

Police have said that they are confident that the perpetrators behind the murder of Ungoofaaru MP Afrasheem Ali will be found.

Speaking at a press conference today, Head of Specialist Crime, Assistant Commissioner of Police Hassan Habeeb said that information collected from the crime scene and CCTV camera footage are being used to find those responsible for this crime.

He assured that the Police will not stop these efforts until they are found.

When asked if Police have any suspects, he said that due to the type of crime, he could not reveal any details to the media just yet.

He said that the Police will leave no stone unturned in their search for the perpetrators.

“We will utilise all our resources and do everything possible to find those responsible,” he said.

Habeeb said that several people have been questioned in relation to this crime, but no one has been arrested.

Dr Afrasheem was found stabbed to death on the staircase of H. Funvilu building, where he lives. A state funeral was held for him today after Asr prayers.
