GMR increases fuel prices by 37 per cent

GMR, the Indian company in charge of managing the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in Malé, has increased jet fuel prices yet again, bringing the total of increase during this year to 37.49.

A Circular issued by GMR yesterday said that jet fuel would be charged 1.21 US Dollars per litre for international operations and 1.29 US Dollars a litre for domestic operations starting from December 2011.

GMR charged 1.14 US Dollars per litre of jet fuel for international operations, and 1.21 US Dollars per litre for domestic operations during November this year.

GMR took over management of Ibrahim International Airport, Malé during November 2010, and during January 2011,a jet fuel litre was charged 0.88 US Dollars and 0.94 US Dollars for international and domestic operations respectively.

These figures should mean that GMR has increased jet fuel prices by 37 per cent during the last 12 months.

Media Coordinator at GMR said today that fuel prices have been increased due to increase in purchase prices.
